Relationship potential of an individual with regard to marriage and married life - A new Approach sycronised with old theory

Astrology is all about analysing and determining the probabilities of relationship issues between two souls while interacting with each other. every soul is unique and is occupying a jeevan with a certain purpose and a certain goal. Marriage is an institution which creats a merger of two souls through two jeevans and is an opportunity mechanism for their interaction through a lifetime period.  That is why it is called as Upapadham in Vedic Astrology meaning a pair of legs walking together.

As per Karma theory, one is destained to interact with people with whom one has a karmic connection pending from previous births. The experience gathered by these karmic interactions are revealed through the individual charts. It will certainly reflect in the natal chart at the time of birth. When two such souls interact through a relationship, their chances of relationship compatibility depend entirely on their basic needs and personality traits, values etc. The strength of such a relationship depends on the success of these traits, values etc.,and their mutual acceptability. The emphasis is therefore on the basic needs, potential and tendencies of a person.

Ascendant is the physical entity of a person. So this has a vital role in relationships. The ascendant defines the descendant - the first house called Lagna defines the descendant of the first house - that is the 7th house called Kalathira Bava. This 7th house is a highly sensitive point in any chart and it clearly addresses the relationship matters with reference to the spouse.

Again luminaries Sun and Moon play a major role. Sun is the ruler of Atman of a person. He brings light to the entire solar system. That is why he rules the Atman. He is Atmakarakan. Moon rules the mind. He is Manokarakan.

Mars rules over all males. Venus rules over all females. It is a famous saying that Men are from mars and women are from Venus. Mars leads and Venus follows.

So for a relationship matter through a marriage we need to concentrate and analyse the following significators.

  • Ascendant - Lagnam
  • Seventh House
  • Ascendant Lord
  • Lord of the Seventh House
  • Sun
  • Moon
  • Mars
  • Venus
Also as a secondary factors we should also analyse 2nd house signifying the family, 8th house which signifies the family of the spouse, 5th house which signifies mind, 12th house which signifies upa padha.

The ruler of the seventh house is the shadow planet as per Jung Theory which we have discussed early. This show the facets of the native's personality that are strongly played out through marital relationships. We have to check the influence of this planet and the houses and planets that receive the influence from this planet via placement, conjunction and aspects.

The planets in the 7th house also play a major role. If Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are placed either alone or together it indicates a possible crisis. But if they are placed along with Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus it reduces the negative effects. Again these so called good planets Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus are placed with out a combination with either Sun or Mars, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu they also play a spoil sport.

To sum it all one should thoroughly analyse the following:

  • dominant elements
  • dominant quality
  • judgement of temperament through placement of planets in male / female signs
  • moon and venus which explain about emotional pattern
  • planets in Navamsa sign
  • The houses owned by Mars and Venus if they have a relationship with ascendant or 7th house
Judgement through Elements:

We all know that we are all ruled by 5 elements, viz., fire, earth, air water and ether. The ether is all pervading. The other four elements rule the individual signs.
Again Sun and Mars are ruled by Fire. Moon and Venus are ruled by Water. Mercury is ruled by earth. Saturn is ruled by Air.
While judging the native's horoscope one has to notice which element has the predominance in the horoscope. And also analyse if there is clash between the element of the planet and element of the sign.

If fire is predominant the native will be enthusiastic and passionate about a relationship.
If earth is predominant, the native will be stabel and will have a prudent approach to the relationship.
If air is predominant the native will have an intellectual approach to a relationship.
If water is predominant the native will approach the relationship with deep emotionalism.

Judgement through Quality:

If more planets are in Chara Rasis, it makes a native good in initiating the relationship and active at perusal of alliance matter.
If more planets are in Sthira Rassis, the native is more likely to be stubborn, watchful, thoughtful and a bit slower in pursuing an alliance.
If more planets are in Ubaya Rasis, the native will be adaptable and also show signs of getting persuaded and are of compromising nature.

We  will continue this in our next blog....

Some thoughts on marital harmony

Subsequent to my last blog, which links astrology and psychology, I am trying to talk about marriage aspects (marital harmony) in a horoscope. The seventh house, the house of shadow is linked with marital matters. According to Jyothish, marriage is seen as a tool to form a family. So the second house, the house of family also is to be taken into consideration. Again marriage is an addition of a person to another person. So I believe we should consider the eleventh house, the house of profits also is to be considered. But the eleventh house is always linked with extras, that is , second wife. Maharishi Jaimini suggests that we should look into some more aspects as very important indicators while looking into marital matters. They are Lagna Padha which is otherwise called Arudha Lagnam (AL), Dara Padha which is A7, Upa Padha (UL) which is A12, second house from UL, seventh and eighth houses from Upa Padha. He also suggests us to consider Darakaraka (DK) which he believes as a vital indicator of marriage, Karakamsa the house in D9 where AK is posited and its seventh house, the planet occupying that house, its status etc., I think we should also consider the seventh house from where Dara Padha (A7) is posited.
Maharishi Parasara says that if the seventh house from AL is occupied by Rahu / Ketu, the native will have disorders of stomach. Since stomach is the starting point of all health issues this should be considered. If the seventh house from AL has Ketu in it and he is in conjunction with or suspected by malefic planet, the native will be taking a lot of risk in life being a very adventurous personality, will have grey hair at young age and will become very old soon. If the seventh house from AL has Jupiter, Venus, Moon, either all the three together or atleast two of them, then the native will be very wealthy. If the seventh house from AL has an exalted planet then the native will be blessed with wealth, name and fame altogether throughout his life. He also says if the above combinations are existing in the second house from AL, then also the results will be the same. This shows that the second house and 7th house from AL, according to Sage Parasara, signify wealth, name and fame.

What can be understood from the above? The AL is the perception of a native by the world. It is his image as perceived by others. It is the side of the native under the spell of Maya. We can extend it further. If benefic planets are placed in Panapara, Kendra and Kona houses from AL, during their period also the native is likely to enjoy all the good things in life. Marital happiness also is one such thing. When malefic are placed in Upachaya sthanas from AL then they bring in wealth. If AL and A7 are in tine or in Kendra there will be marital harmony. If they are 6/8 relationship, there will be enmity between the marital partners. This will affect the marital relationship of the native. We can say the same thing with AL and UL also.

Sage Parasara, while discussing about A7 and its seventh house, he identifies issues like name and fame only. But this A7 indicates the perception of others regarding marital bliss of a native. So I feel we should consider this also while considering marital harmony. I think we can take A7 as lagna and view the planetary positions from there. Definitely the benefic and malefic influences will give us clues.

Uttara Kalamritha says that we should find out everything about the first marriage or spouse from A7 and UL. From the eighth houses of the above two arudhas we can find about the second marriage or spouse. Kalidasa says that the spouse lost can be seen from the malefic connection of these two arudhas. If these two arudhas are benefic ones, then there is marital bliss.
DK, Darakaraka is the planet which has the least longitude, can be considered for predicting marital harmony. We can look at DK, 7th from DK in D1, DK navamsa and also rasis aspecting DK rasi. The famous astrologer and writer K.N.Rao while discussing Chardasas discuss DK in a detailed manner in his books. He removes Rahu from Charakarakas. He says that there are only seven charakarakas. While not going into the details of this, I would say that we can certainly look into DK, 7th from DK as reference points and analyse the marital harmony.

Karakamsa in D9 is the house occupied by AK. The seventh house from it, if occupy Moon and Jupiter, then the native will get an extremely beautiful spouse. In case if Venus occupy this house the spouse will be very sexual. If it is Mercury, the wife will be well versed in fine arts. If this house occupy Sun, then the spouse is from a powerful family. In the case of wife she will confine herself to the domestic activities. In the case of Saturn occupying this house the spouse will be looking older, pious and rich. Rahu will bring a widower. We can also try this in looking at D1 also in addition to D9. If the planet in the seventh from Karakamsa curses, then there will be obstacles in marriage.

Astrology goes with psychology

C.G.Jung, a well known human psychologist scientist has propagated a theory called “Shadow Theory”.  It is a famous theory on human personality. He divides human psyche into three parts. The first part is EGO which is identified with Conscious Mind. The second part is the “Personal Unconscious Mind” and the third is “Collective Unconscious Mind”. He says it is the result of every human’s psychic inheritance which is nothing but a store of past experiences everyone is born with. Are we conscious of this? He says “No”. But these will always get reflected by the knowledge of some religious faiths or myth or feeling the vibrations for someone and many more. It is the result of a mixture of the individual’s outer reality and his or her innermost unconscious experiences in the past. This theory also says that we always deny in ourselves the personification of the mixture of the past but project them into others. This, he calls it as “Shadow”.
We play either a male or female. This is generally decided by the physical gender. But we are all, in real, bisexual. This is what CG Jung also says in agreement with people like Freud. Some psychologists call it as Anima and Animus. They say it is a collective image which motivates each sex to respond and understand the members of the other gender. Man apprehends the nature of a woman by virtue of his hidden Anima and a woman does the same with a man by virtue of her Animus. The Anima is lying with men in their unconscious mind and the Animus does the same with a woman. It is the masculine personality of a woman lying with her without her knowledge.

If you look out this concept using Astrology as a science, you will understand that the disposition of planets in individual charts decide about the inner bent of mind or cravings or capacity to perceive. This capacity helps us to have an image of our partner and we search such one when we reaches the age of accepting one in our life. It is a successful achievement for some. Some others make a search and search but end up with disappointments and with more cravings. Some people drop the idea of such search in shear disgust after repeated failure. For some a realization comes after a trial and failure of the results. They come out and try to search again. This is what we call as soul mate. It is all an individualistic phenomenon.  It is again a fact that two persons having similar destiny meet on the path of life, enjoy as well as suffer their life together or have a mixed experience according to the karmic results and linkage of the past and previous births.

How this karmic linkage is identified in the horoscopes?
·        Lagna and Moon signs, Seventh House and its Lord in a male chart.
·        Lagna, Sun and Mars, the seventh house and its lord in a female chart.
In a male chart the Anima which is called the female element is decided by Venus. Venus indicates the anima of a male and his subconscious desire about womanhood. Moon helps him to imagine about the woman he desires and he will project this image on various women that attract him in his life. The lagna will portray the social image and his personality, his independent thoughts and his capacity to face worldly matters. The 7th house and its ruler will govern his interactions with women and the resulting experiences in his lifetime.
So when Moon and Venus have either aspects to each other, or association or when Moon is in the star of Venus or Venus is in the star of Moon or either of them occupy the place owned by other in D1 or D9 is to be taken very seriously by any astrologer which will speak of the quality of his association with women. This is because Moon represents inner image and Venus represents outer projection of female image.
The male element which is called as animus, in a woman’s unconscious mind represents her boldness and courage. It also reflects her independent opinion and power of action. Mars stands for this animus and creates a desire to have a man in her life. Sun works in the inner level to create a male image in her mind which will govern her interactions with men. Lagna will picturise her skills, freedom of action and outer behavior projecting her real personality to the outer world, the seventh house and its lord will govern her interactions and their success or failure with men, the persons of opposite gender.
So in a female chart if there is an aspect, association or any sort of relationship as said above exists the same will speak the quality of her interactions with men.
Here Sun represents the inner image and Mars represents the outer projection of male image.
How the shadow theory is relevant here? We have to discuss this with the first as well as seventh house together. The first house relates the inner skill and the seventh house represents how they are demonstrated. The shadow is camouflaged in the lagna and it is an integral part of the personality. The first house represents the personality, role etc. We all know that there is a special lagna called Arudhalagna which is the real mask of the lagna.  This is the perception of others about an individual. When we project the first house as representing the personality the seventh house represents our interactions with others. Then this is the real shadow of the individual.  We unconsciously look for the valued shadow qualities when we are looking for a partner or life mate. So the seventh house indicates the values. This is decided by the seventh house, its ruler, the planets in 7th house, the planets aspect the seventh house, the planets aspect the ruler of seventh house. Again it is karmic effect. So the native will have a soul mate meeting these desired values or the native will force unconsciously the values on the partner.
One should be aware that our shadow may create a pit where our personality falls and can lose its identity. On the other hand the experience with the shadow can be a enjoyable one. It all depends on the karmic results.

This article is written to just help everyone to understand the link between Astrology and psychology.

Relationships are like trees

Hi, Thought of giving you some input on relationship issues. Nowadays, I am experiencing with a number of parents who come to me for advice based on astrological findings, have this relationship issues as a paramount one. They want to know if their children will have to go for a divorce or can join their spouse back. Almost all the cases, I found, the natives have lack of space in their heart.

What is the main reason for this evil of damaging the family system? Lack of understanding? Freedom form dependence emotionally? You can contemplate on this. Let us see it comparing it with trees.

Relationships are like trees:

My dear friends, have you ever been to any orchard? I am sure we all have seen at least a few of them like orange, mango, cashew, coconut, chikku and many more. Did you notice how these trees are planted? There is always a gap between any two grown up trees. Every tree needs some space to grow properly. It needs the right amount of light, soil, water, mineral and loving hands of a farmer. When all these needs are being taken care of properly, then only the tree grows the way the farmer wants it to be.

Similarly, all relationships too need some space to grow. They also need right amount of all ingredients including love and affection to take a proper shape. Any relationship is like the four pillars of a temple. They are together, but they can’t come very close to each other and if they do so, the walls of the temple would fall off resulting in its collapse. So all relationships need a proper space to grow!

A tree is planted today but bears fruits only after a particular period, when it reaches maturity.
Similarly, our relationships also bear fruits at a later date. We shouldn't expect anything right from the beginning.

Big trees give shelter to all passersby without any expectations. And I have noticed that true and matured relationships also provide mental, emotional and physical shelter (support) to all.

Deeper the roots, stronger the hold of a tree. Similarly deeper the understanding, stronger the relationship.

When the winds are blowing harsh, the trees sway in the direction of wind and only those who do so, survive. Others are uprooted. Similarly, there are occasions when we just need to overlook a few things, just let them go, just flow with the wind. Only such relationships pass the test of hard times and survive even in not so favorable conditions.

Thus friends! Relationships are like trees, if nurtured with utmost love and care, will bear sweet fruits of love, compassion, strong emotional bonding and care.

Please note the following:
“Single” and Relationship” are just titles. Your heart determines your true relationship status.

“To know when to go away and when to come closer is the key to any lasting relationship”
--Domenico Cieri Estrada

Healthy relationships are not perfect relationships, but they are balanced relationships. They are balanced by good and bad times, fights, forgiveness, mistakes, ecstasy and tranquility.

Astrologically, we used to review the status of Venus (Sukran) in every horoscope to decide the status of their pursuing their relationship with others. If this planet is affected then there will be relationship issues for them. WE always advise them to understand this aspect of their natural character and try to rectify them. This is just an attempt to overcome the issues becoming hard.

When Venus is posited in Navamsa at seventh from Karakamsa and at the same time it is cursing the native, then the native needs to carryout parihara for the same.

Have a Great Day.

TRANSIT OF JUPITER

I would like to alert my readers about the good and bad of the transit of Jupiter. You might have studied a number of books published so far about the predictions of the transit. Please note that these predictions need not be 100% true. Every horoscope is unique. So the results also shall be unique. These results are based on various planets positioning during birth, movement during transit date and Dasa - Antar Dasa periods. If you see the occurance of predictions, the weightage is about 70% on the natal chart, 20% on Dasa Antar Dasa and only 10 % on transit. What will happen to an individula is decided by the birth chart, when will it happen is decided by the Dasa and Antar Dasa and how this will happen is decided by Transit. If all are favourable all positive results happen and vice versa. So I would request all my readers not to worry much on such transits.

The basis for this is a slokha given in a very old astrology book titled "Kala Vidhanam".

"Bhayam Poojam Rujam Dravya Hanim Sowkyam Sucham Sriyam

Hanim Dhanam Sthana Nasam Labam Peetam Guru: Kramath"

With this slokha we can give the prediction for various rasis. Please note the point I have mentioned in the first paragraph of this message.

Mithunam - Bhayam - Fear
Rishabam - Poojam - Improvement in status
Mesham - Rujam - Acquired disease
Meenam = Dravya Hanim - Material Oss
Kumbam - Sowkyam - No need to explain
Makaram - Sucham - Exixting Disease - Take care
Dhanur - Sriyam - Ayswaryam
Vrichikam - Hanim - Loss
Thulam - Dhanam - Money
Kanya - Sthana Nasam - Displacement
Simham - Lapal - Gains
Katakam - Peetam - Worries

So mentally prepare yourself for the results predicted and face it with confidence. Pray to Sri Lakshmi Narasimar.

Book Review: FISH - by my friend Sri Sunderji

Today I am bringing out some topic not connected with Vedic Astrology. My friend Mr Sunder is in a top position with a private company in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. He travels lot and enjoy the nature during his travels. He also reads a lot. He used to share with some of us his thoughts on his experiences as "Weekend Thoughts". I am extremely privileged to share one with you since I feel this will inspire you and modify your way of working.

Thanks Sunderji.

Weekend Thoughts
Book Review: ‘Fish’ by S.C.Lundin, H. Paul, and J. Christensen

Does a book have to be voluminous, running into hundreds of pages in order to make an impact? Does brevity of words necessarily imply economy of thought? My answer to both queries: a resounding No! I am referring to a book titled ‘Fish’ by Lundin, Paul and Christensen (hereafter LPC). It was published back in 2001 by Hodder and Stoughton.

Pick up the book, and you could well be forgiven for getting put off by the title. (Happens all the time in a book shop these days, doesn’t it?). Well, the fish being referred to is from Seattle’s Pike Place Fish Market. Imaginary as the story-line is, the fish market is at the centre of the effort by the authors to deliver powerful messages, and inspiring thoughts which would help any reader to love the work he/she does; boost performance and excel in life.

At a time when most nations are reeling under near recession and the job market all over the world appears to be shrinking; when competition is severe and work gets more and more demanding, this book, though published several years ago, appeared as a reminder to me of that common wish: if only work could become a play for all of us. According to the authors, there is no reason why it cannot. But then, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to thousands of working professionals having some amount of experience. They would know that it is possible to have “a more playfully productive atmosphere at work”; that being serious or formal or having a tense working environment rarely helps to boost productivity.

How do we go about making work more enjoyable and fun-filled? The book draws inspiration from the way fish is traded at the Pike Place in Seattle. It strives to provide insight to create “an innovative and accountable work environment where a playful, attentive, and engaging attitude leads to more energy, enthusiasm, productivity, and creativity”. It comes up with four simple and yet powerful principles. The authors believe that it is basically about having the right attitude. We must choose our attitude every day and choose it well. To quote from the book, “There is always a choice about the way you do your work, even if there is not a choice about the work itself”. We all know that most of work is mundane and boring. Given this situation, can we not try and turn the work to something interesting?

Consider the following logic:
1.       Usually, any given work involves a group of individuals performing different elements (tasks) in order to achieve the end objective of that work.
2.       The individuals could go around with their tasks either in a cold, tense environment with
frowning faces; or in a happy, relaxed manner.
3.       Being happy and relaxed at work does not necessarily mean being casual or unconcerned.
4.       Human beings, by nature, would prefer to be happy and relaxed at any time, instead of tense and worked up.

Despite the above, why is it that we have so much tension, argument and disagreement at work?
Well, there could be a variety of reasons: lack of trust, differing perceptions, poor communication, varied personalities, improper planning, lack of professionalism; as well as poor skills on the part of one or more persons engaged in that work. The second principle that LPC come up with is this: try and convert work into a play. This would add so  much fun to what we are all doing in the work situation. In turn, it would bring in so much energy and creativity to what we all do. The result? We would be able to perform better; and in a happier, enjoyable frame of mind. Remember the old saying, ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’?

Whatever be the nature of work that we perform, either as an individual or as part of a team, the
output of our work forms the input for another individual or team. The latter could be termed as our customer. If such people are part of the same organization, we could call them internal customers. On the other hand, if they are outside our organization, and are paying for the goods and/or services that we deliver, they could be referred to as external customers.

Be that as it may, LPC believe that for achieving success in our work, we must strive to include our
customers in all the fun and happiness that we seek to generate. Let us not ignore our customers. Let us perform beyond their expectations. And delight them. Which brings us to the third principle: Make Their Day. To quote from the book, “The fish guys include the customers in their good time. They engage their customers in ways which create energy and goodwill. The atmosphere is one of inclusion.” The message is clear. Let’s create happiness and joy for our customers as well. As individuals, if we try and make each other’s day, wouldn’t it bring about so much fun and energy into the work environment?

More important: wouldn’t it improve the quality of work that we all do?
The fourth and final point that the book makes is equally important. This is about being fully present at work. “Be There”, say the authors. We cannot remain detached in any work situation. We should stay focused and be available to each other as well as to our customers. Indeed, the latter are the reason for our existence. Each of us needs to interact, to engage, and communicate. Surely this would improve the working and create goodwill all around? While discussing an issue with our colleagues, let us be fully present, let us truly listen and not allow ourselves to be distracted. Don’t we all know that it is better to be disagreed with than to be ignored? “Fish” is truly worth a read.

FEMALE HOROSCOPES - SOME THOUGHTS TO START WITH

Maharishi Parasara says that all the results relating to male horoscope should also be considered for female horoscope. However the attributes related to her Deha like physical traits, body etc., should be reckoned from the first house, the birth from the 5th house, husband from the 7th house and her widowhood from the 8th house. Those results which are not possible to occur for a female shall be stated for her husband. Example: Impotency.
The fortune of her husband and widowhood of a woman should be analysed from the 7th and 8th houses respectively in her natal chart. The 7th house denote the husband or the ascendant of the husband. The ascendant not only signifies the body but also should stand for general happiness, sorrows, knowledge (prudence), place of birth, fame, strength, general appearance, glory, honour, politeness, status, longevity, solace, prestige, behavior, sound health, childhood, adulthood, old age etc., The karakatwas of the ascendant is also utilized to predict character of the native, shortcomings etc., Therefore from the seventh house of a woman shall be taken as the ascendant for her husband to analyse his characteristics. Positioning of the benefic planets in the seventh house makes her fortunate.
In the native chart of a woman, if Sun is posited in 7th house without any malefic connections, it can be predicted that she will marry a person from a high class society or higher in status.
Phaladeepica advocates that sowbagya of a woman (her husband’s fortune) weather he is alive or not, should be predicted from the 8th house of her horoscope. Jataka Parijatha says that the longevity of a woman’s husband can be predicted from her 8th house only. Hence, we have to analyse the widowhood of a woman from the 8th house is more appropriate. This is the only place where position of malefic like Mars causes obstacles in the happiness and comforts of a husband. Placement of Mars in the 8th house of a female chart indicates that the native is Maglika. The 8th place from the 7th house is the 2nd house. The second house is considered as the house of death of a husband. If the 8th house  of a female holds two or more malefic, the second house of the native will have the aspects of more malefic and that will indicate an adverse situation for the longevity of the husband. Parasara says that if Mars is placed in the 8th house of a female, she will be responsible for the death of her husband.

We will share more thoughts on female horoscopes in future.

DIVISIONAL CHARTS

Most of the astrologers satisfy themselves studying and analyzing only D1, the natal chart and D9, the navamsa chart. But sages have developed various divisional charts which signify a particular important aspect of a native. They certainly influence the native’s life in a particular area.

SPECIAL YOGAS

Some Special Yogas found in horoscopes

1.    What is Sreenatha Yoga in a horoscope?

If the exalted Lord of the seventh occupies the tenth house and at the same time the lord of the tenth house is sitting along with the Lord of the Ninth House then Sreenatha Yoga is formed.

How to identify and confirm? What are the results?

The native will have the insignia of Vishnu on his body, viz., the conch, the wheel, etc., He will be an acceptable speaker, godly, have a good wife and children and will be loved by everybody.

Sreenatha Yoga is considered as one of the important Raja Yogas. Here a contact is established between the 7th, 9th and 10th houses. It bestows the native rise to power as well as wealth. The lord of the 7th should be exalted in the 10th, the lord of which, in turn, must be with the 9th lord.

This is possible only for Dhanur Lagna Horoscopes where Mercury being the lord of 7th house can occupy the 10th house, that is Kanya (Mercury is the lord of 10th house also and gets exalted in Kanya) along with Sun who is the lord of ninth house.

1.    If the lagnathipthi is posited in 10th house, ruler of 10th house is posited in 9th house along with ruler of 9th house; the native will become very rich, good in deeds and will achieve name and fame.
2.    If the rulers of 9th and 10th are strongly placed in either 5th or 9th, the native will rise in life to great heights.
3.    If the rulers of 5th and 10th exchanged their place the native will be vry rich in his life.
4.    Every planet is destined to have a particular age as the most significant age. For Sun it is 22. For Moon it is 24. For Mars it is 28. For Mercury it is 32. For Jupiter it is 16. For Venus it is 25. For Saturn it is 35. For Rahu it is 42. For Ketu it is 48. These periods are significant because if the planets are posited in a strong and unblemished manner the good things obtained from the planets start from the age mentioned against each planet. For example for a Danur Lagna horoscope, Sun is posited in Simha or Mesha, then for this native when reaches the age of 22, good results from Sun will start. For Mithuna Lagna horoscope the ruler of 5th, Venus is posited in 10th house means at the age of 25 the native will be gifted with a boy who will be really lucky for the native. Otherwise the native will make good gains in his career. This is applicable for all planets.
5.    If Jupiter is posited in Kataka, then the native will start enjoying all the benefits like money, property etc at the age of 16. If this Jupiter who is posited in Kataka belongs to a native whose lagna is Kataka, then the native will get all benefits from his father at the age of 16. For Vrichika Lagna native the same Jupiter who belongs to 2nd and 5th house will bring sudden success at the age of 16 on educational as well as monetary positions.
6.    Similarly if Rahu and Ketu occupies a good house with good conjunctions, good aspects and good connections, then good period will start to the native at the age of 42 and 48 respectively.
7.    When a planet gets its strength by positing himself at 10th house and the ruler of the 10th house is also strong, then the native will reach higher positions in his career.
8.    When Saturn is posited in 10th house, the native will achieve higher positions by his sheer hard work.
9.    When the rulers of 6th, 8th and 12th houses are posited in 10th house ther will always be hindrances in career.
10.  When Sun and Mars joined together and posited in 10th without any bad aspects then  the native will go to higher positions in career. He will certainly get associated with Government or Army or Police positions.

Some thoughts on Jeevanam of an individual astrologically

All those who study Astrology knows that 10th House is called as Karma Sthana, Jeevana Sthana, Rajya Sthana etc., Indications of this house are Profession for livelihood, honour, father (9th house also indicates father). Karma, royalty or authority, place, living in foreign lands (opposite to 4th house which indicates living in own country) and debts.

The significators (Karaka) of the 10th house are Jupiter, Sun, Mercury and Saturn. We should think and find out the logic behind allotting the four planets as karakas. Why at all there should be four planets and what is the reason for choosing Ju, Su, Me and Sa?

One logic, I can say is that Ju is the Dhanakarakan. Su is the karakan for authority and power. We can also call him signifying Karma. Me is related with Buddhi  and Money. Saturn is Jeevana Karakan due to hard work.

Lagu Parasari, the famous book of astrology says that the 2nd lord and 12th lord will give the results of the houses they sit. This means that these two lords will act as per the house they occupy. If they occupy the 6th house, for example they give the results of 6th house.

The second house indicates wealth, sustenance of the first house and 12th house indicates the losses. As both factors are crucial for the career, we will see it in this angle. For the Chart of kalapurusha, the Jeevanasthana is 10th house and that of Makara. Its second house is generally ruled by Saturn and its 12th house is ruled by Jupiter. Now consider the 10th house as Lagna. If the rulers of second house that is Saturn and 12th house that is Jupiter are placed in 10th house they will give the results of 10th house as per Lagu Parasari.

Coming again, we all know that lagna is the indication of native’s birth. The ending of this birth – Ayus – is indicated in the 8th house. The 8th house is also called the house of transformations and sudden changes. Now look at the 8th bava from 10th house. It is 5th house. This 5th house indicates pre-destiny – Poorva Punniam. In the natural Kalapurusha hosroscope, the 5th house is Simha which is ruled by Sun. Thus we come to know the logic of bringing Sun as the Karaka for 10th house. 5th house is the house of fruits –benefits. 10th house is karmic house. Sun is the Karma Karaka. What Bagavan Krishna says? Do your Karma and do not expect results.

The Kalapurusha’s 3rd house is owned by Mercury. The 8th house from this is 10th house. That means the transformation of 3rd house is 10th house. Thus Mercury becomes the Karaka for 10th house.

When the Saturn becomes Karaka of the 10th house, the native becomes highly ambitious, wants to grow in life, wants to make a lot of gains and believes in him. This is because the Saturn is the ruler of the 11th house and is the ruler of second from 10th, dhanasthana of 10th and the place of its sustenance.

When we consider Jupiter as the karaka, it makes the native to have his jeevanam due to his own past karma. Ju is the ruler of 12th house to 10th house. The income, status etc are due to his own karma, his following up of Dharma in the past birth etc.

When Mercury becomes the Karaka, it makes the native to invite his jeevanam due to the karma or efforts of his present birth. It is the ruler of 6th and 9th houses from the 10th house.

When Sun becomes  the karaka, the native lives based on the Past karma Continuity that is called Sanjitha Karma. Past sins will make him suffer. Past good activities makes him live a happy life. Sun rules the 8th house from the 10th house.

We should note that all karakas are under the influence of 2nd, 6th, 8th and 12th houses.

The first house is always internal self. The 5th house is always the past destiny. The 7th house is always external life or external self. The 9th house is always future destiny. All these houses have some intrinsic connections to the jeevanam of a native.

Possibilities of Second Marriage

In the present day situation there are many commercial, physical, financial reasons for a quck divorce. Men should understand that nowadays women are brought up  in a very much independent thinking with lot of education and much awareness. They watch movies liberally, they read newspapers they know about women’s freedom etc., but at the same time let us find out some common afflictions in the horoscopes which lead to separation and a possible remarriage.
  • The houses that should be carefully studied for family union or separation are 2nd, 7th, and 11th in addition Lagnam and Venus. 2nd house signifies family, 7th house signifies the first spouse and 11th house signifies the second house.
  • When the ruler of 2nd and 12th occupies the 3rd house and is / or aspected by Jupiter or 9th Lord, the native is likely to get another opportunity for a marriage since his first marriage may fail.
  •  If Lagnam, 2nd house and 7th house jointly afflicted by the presence or aspect of more evil planets and at the same tome the ruler of 7th has become inactive due to asthangatham or Neecham then there is every possibility of remarriage.
  •  If ruler of 9th is posited in 7th, ruler of 7th is posited in 4th – another Kendra and sukasthana then there is a possible remarriage.
  • If ruler of 7th and ruler of 11th are in Kendras or if they are seated in Konas and aspecting each other or even if these two have occupied a house together then they invite an opportunity for a remarriage.
  •  If Mars, Rahu or Saturn occupies 7th and 8th houses without any aspects by a good planet then there is a possibility of loss of spouse. This may indicate second marriage.
  •  If venus is debilitated either in Rasi or Navamsa or associated with a bad planet there is a possibility of remarriage. In this condition of the ruler of 7th is inactive then there is no possibility of marriage at all.
  • If both the 2nd and 7th houses are afflicted then there is possibility of loss of spouse thus creating an opportunity for remarriage.
  • If ruler of 7th is in dusthanas like 6, 8 or 12 while at the same time an evil planet like Saturn, Rahu or Mars occupy 7th house, Venus in debilitated condition has associated itself with a natural benefic planet then there is a possibility of remarriage.
  • If Venus is in even rasi and the owner of the house where Venus is seated is exalted then there is a possibility of second marriage.
  • If Mars conjoins with Venus and has occupied 7th house, lagnathipathi is in 8th house and Saturn in 12th house there is a possibility of second marriage.
  • When the ruler of 7th is in debilitation or in retrograde position when it is in exaltation he brings an opportunity for a second marriage.
  • If the 7th and 8th houses are occupied by evil planets with no good aspects and at the same tome Mars is in 12th house, the spouse will be lost thus bringing an opportunity for a remarriage.

I can hear the voice of people asking me if there are any remedial actions for this. We can do the following:

  1.  After the marriage is performed, visit an Amman Temple, remove the Thirumangalyam and deposit the same in the Hundy. Immediately conduct another marriage with a new Thirumangalyam in the Sannidhi.
  2. Create a statue of a so called spouse, conduct the first marriage, finish all the marriage rituals and then dissolve the statue in the sea. After a gap go for a fresh marriage (Remarriage) with a spouse.
  3.  In villages people still follow a ritual. They consider a plantain (banana) tree as a lady since it can give birth to another tree. They conduct a marriage with the tree, cut the tree, make it as if the first wife is dead and then remarry with a human spouse (only for men). Please see the logic behind it.
  4. The best remedy is face the facts.

Badhaka Part III - Some Thoughts

I have given some more thoughts on Badhaka in this part.

One should always remember Rahu is the natural Badhaka. He owns the 11th house. The 11th house is the top point of Kama Trine (3, 7 and 11). In the chart of Kala Purusha, the starting point is Mesha. Rahu owns 11th house. So for Chara Rasis the 11th house is Badhakasthana. Move the Lagna (Starting Point) by one house in the clockwise direction.  So also move Rahu  by one house. You know Rahu / Ketu moves in the anti-clockwise direction. So move it in the reverse direction. Count the houses from Lagna. It is 9. So for all sthira Rasis 9th house is Badhakasthana. Again move the lagna by one house. Move Rahu by one house in the reverse direction. For all chara-chara (Upaya) sthanas the badhakasthana is the 7th house.

So we should know that Badhakam is mainly identified with the association of Rahu. It is nothing but the curse of Sarpa Deva. Do not imagine that people have obtained the wrath of Sarpa (Snake). If you find in the epics Sarpa is identified with Adhishesha. The Seat of Lord Vishnu who is the mother of all creations is Adhishesha. The one that sits on the head of Lord Shiva is a Sarpa. If you go to a Shiva Temple you will always see Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam (Nirguna Brahmam) is always seen with a Sarpa performing an umbrella posture to Him. This shows that our Hindu system has given a very important place to Sarpa Deva. If onegets the wrath of such important person, it clearly indicates that he incur the wrath of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva Themselves. Certainly he will face hurdles, obstructions etc., during the period of Badhakathipathi. The troubles will be more when
·         Badhakathipathi is in the star of Rahu.
·         Badhakathipathi is aspected, or conjoined by Rahu.
Generally Rahu, if placed in Lagna, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th and 12th houses it is identified as Rahu Dosha. When Rahu gets associated with Badhakathipathi the problems are more.

You may be knowing our ladies of yester years will be sprinkling milk for ant-hill (In Tamil we call it as புற்று மண் } which will normally be found in Kali or Mariamman temples during Fridays especially during the month of Aadi (Ashada) and Thai (Makara).

The following remedies are prescribed in old and traditional Astrology Books like Prasna Marga.

·         If Rahu is placed in 6th, 8th, 10th or Badhaka houses Sarpa Bali as per prescribed texts are to be performed. This is normally done at Rameswaram.
·         If Rahu is in 4th house installation of an image of a sarpa devatha is to be done in a Shiva Temple. This is also done at Rameswaram.
·         If Rahu is in 12th house, arrange music and dance programmes during a festival at a temple.
·         Rahu in Lagna needs sprinkling of milk on a Sarpa deity or ant hill in a temple.
·         Rahu in 5th house is to be balanced with a Thila Tharpanam at Rameswaram.
·         Rahu in second house is to be balanced with Abishekam to a Sarpa Deity at a Temple.
·         Rahu in 7th house is to be balanced by arranging Dance programme and devotional songs at a temple during the Aadi or Thai months.
·         Rahu in Chara Rasi: Small eggs of gold or silver are offered to a Serpant Deity – symbolic of broken eggs.
·         Rahu in Sthira Rasi: Plant Trees (It is symbolic of destruction of ant hills and abodes of serpants.
·         Rahu in Chara Chara Rasi: Dedicate a small serpant made of gold or copper (Symbolic of killing the snakes).

Please note that if Rahu is in any way connected with Badhakesha the above remedies are compulsory as told in scriptures.

If Jupiter is associated with Badhakasthanathipathi and is placed in 6th, 8th or 12th houses, and Rahu is in Kendrasthana to Jupiter, then the curse is to be identified from the superior serpents. If Gulika or Mandhi is in Kendra instead of Rahu then the curse is from inferior serpents.

If Sun is associated with Rahu, then the serpents are beneficial with an intention of doing a long term good if Serpent Deities are propitiated. For example Rahu is placed in Badhaka House aspects Sun. It shows that superior serpents will help due to some good karma of the native in a past birth. This may manifest in the form of learning subjects like Medicine, Astrology and Occult Sciences. It may also indicate that if the native start practicing yoga seriously he can achieve Kundalini Yoga.

On the other hand if Moon is associated with Rahu, it shows the intent of evil minded serpants to cause trouble and disaster.

Please note that the planets in Kendra to the Badhakasthanathipathi will always help the Badhakesha. If Rahu becomes Athmakaraka and if associated with Badhakathipathi it indicates that birth is due to the curse of Serpent Deities.

The sixth Lord in 9th house or the ninth lord in 12th house or the Sun in the Sixth House indicates the displeasure of Father. Similarly the sixth lord in the fourth house or the 4th Lord in 12th House indicates the displeasure of mother. If either of them is associated with Badhakathipathi, one should do remedial measures. One should serve his / her parents if they are alive. Or one should go to Kashi Kshethra (Varanasi), carry Ganga water in a pot, add Vilvam to that and perform abishekam to Lord Kasi Viswanatha for a minimum of 3 days, then perform Shradham in Gaya, donate new clothes to elders (male for father and female for mother), provide them food, give them walking stick, chapels, bed and pillow, a fan etc along with money and seek their blessings falling at their feet.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please note that if one is not performing the pitru karma incur the wrath of dead people. If Sharadha is not performed for a soul, then the soul, according to Garuda Puranam, remains in the form of Pysasa and this affects the relatives. This is very well indicated by the presence of Gulika/ Ketu in the Badhakasthana. This is a great problem. The badhakathipathi will always cause catastrophic punishments to the native.

·         If Gulika / Ketu is in any manner associated with Mars either by conjunction or by aspect or by occupying the stars of Mars or placed in Mesha or Vrichika, the danger is sudden accidents, burn injuries, weapons or smallpox thus resulting in death,
·         If the association is with Saturn this indicates poverty and misery resulting in death.
·         If Rahu is associated with Gulika then the death may be due to snake bite or severe poison or suffering with severe pain before death.
The sign occupied with Gulika / Ketu identifies the pysasa sex and relationship also. If it is 4th house or its Lord then it is not an outsider but a relative of the native. The Astothatriamsa indicates the age of the Pysasa. It is D108 division chart. If in the beginning it indicates young age and if near the end it indicates old age. One should follow remedial measures like Shradha in Kasi Kshethra – it should be Parvana Shradha, Tila Homa etc are to be done.

If Badhakesha is associated with Lagna or lagna Lord and Gulika it is a form of Drishty Badhaka. If Badhakesha is associated with 6th or 8th house or their lords it is another form of Drishty Badhaka. If Rahu / Gulika is associated with 4th, 5th, 7th or 8th house it is another form Drishty Badhaka. In such cases, one should look for an aspect of benefic planet. If such aspect is there, then wear the stone of the benefic planet. This will help.
