Important findings in my experience

Well, friends, there was a gap of six days. The last post was on 14th. Bear with me for this delay.

Today I am writing on some of my observations and findings.

If the planet Saturn is placed in Lagna, the person assumes more responsibility on anything he does. Such persons do their job very seriously. So naturally he is a good subordinate. If one employs a person with Saturn in lagna without any affliction, this person will do anything, I repeat anything, for his employer. He will be the most obedient employee. He will not question the order or instructions, will not think if it is right or wrong. He will simply oblige.

But this man with Saturn in lagna is not suitable for friendship where  you look for a person as a company during an entertainment, parties etc., They will not be there for you to play with. The problem is their seriousness. You can not cut jokes on them. They will be too obsessed. They get hurt easily by the jokes on them. Be careful with them if any of them is your friend. But at the same time, if you need physical help do not hesitate to ask them. They will be the best in it.

You know 5th bava represents your mind. The mind needs to respond very fast to get quick clarity on understanding on any situation, is it not?.

If Saturn is placed in 5th, just imagine what will happen. Saturn is the slowest planet in astro solar system. When someone gives a lecture to a set of people, some of whom has Saturn in 5th bava, the lecturer can not finish his lecture to his satisfaction. Do you know, why? These people will ask lot of questions, some time relevant, some time irrelevant and slow down the lecture unconsciously.

Similarly, there will be relationship issues if Saturn is in 5th bava along with Venus. The person will be blamed that he do not understand the spouse properly. If a malefic like Mars aspect this house from 2nd, the fourth aspect, certainly relationship issues will crop up since 4th is signifying relationship, psychology, mother and happiness. Don't you think that 4th rules "mother at home and the happiness out of it, as feelings"? Don't you think the Mars-Saturn combination will spoil it?

Saturn in 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th is not bad since these are Upachaya sthanas.

Coming to the fourth house; it is an important house. As said earlier, it signifies mother, home, vehicles - all that give happiness. A "feel at home" house is nevertheless 4th. If this house is safe without any affliction, see such persons will always be happy. They are good companions. They will be easy going. They are blessed with mother's support. This make them to be motherly too. They have a free flow with their emotions.

On the contrary if this house is afflicted, they will not be very happy. They will not be good to their mother. They will be wanderers. If you look at the horoscope of some of the criminals, you can see that his 4th and 5th houses are severely afflicted. I know one case where Rahu is in 4th, aspected by Saturn as the 10th aspect and Mars and Ketu aspecting as 7th aspect on 4th bava and eighth aspect on 5th bava. This person killed his mother on the verge of an argument and is in jail. Of course there is a link with 12 th house also in his chart.

Some questions and Answers - 2

Ms Shyamala Subramanyam has asked the following questions. Her questions and my answers:

1. Please highlight what is samasapthamam with an example

Opposite Moon signs in Boy's and Girl's Horoscopes are called Sama Sapthama. When the boy's lagna and the girls lagna are in samasapthama positions it will cause physical attraction. If the janma rasis of moon signs are like this it is said to create mutual affinity between the couples. This is based on the principle that when the minds are united differences will not exist. The results will be very good when the moon's location of the girl is exactly at 180 degrees from the moon's location of the boy. All samasapthamas are good except Simha and Kumba and Mithuna/Kanya and Danur/Meena. This is based on the fact that Sun and Saturn are mutual enemies, so also Jupiter and Mercury. But some astrologers accept Ju and Me since both are harmless (benbefics). As far as Kataka and Makara is concerned, it is acceptable since Moon do not think Saturn as its enemy.

2. What rules do we follow if there is sastashtagam. In panchang it is said that if girl's rasi is otrai and that of boy's is rettai it is fine. So does that mean for rasi's like rishbam, katakam, kanni, vrichhigam, makaram and meenam we do not match their respective 6th rasis?

The astrologers of yester year divided this sashtashtagam in two ways. Subha Sashtashtagam and Asubha Sashtashtagam.  The general prediction is when the boy's rasi is 6th of girl's rasi it is "Putra nasam". When the boy's rasi is 8th of girl's rasi it is "More Putra Nasam". There is another school of thought that a native's life will undergo difficulties during the dasa of 6th and 8th rulers, in general. When it becomes the janma rasi of the spouse, the difficulties get multiplied. Again another school of thought is that when a match is made with sashtashtagam, they always fight with each other.

So here, where is the question of odd or even rasis? In my view, it is better to avoid matches with sashtashtagam status. Whether it is Rasi where mind is involved and lagan where body is involved, there comes a clash of Thathvas. They will be inimical either for boy or girl. This means one will think the other as enemy. Only on this predictions are given that they will fight with each other. So No Sashtashtagam.

3. In panchang for horse he has given buffalo and for elephant it is lion, for goat it is monkey for cow it is tiger and for deer it is dog as enemy yoni's.
But by nature are not lion and tiger enemies to all (horse, elephant, goat, cow buffalo, and deer)
can you clarify this?

Yoni is the supporter of creation. So a match of Yoni between boy and girl are seen as important. Our ancestors identify this with animals and advice as which animal is inimical to which animal?

What is this concept? Why they should correlate this with an animal?

Every human is born with some animal instinct. It is the wonder of creation. If he or she is born with 100% human instinct then there is no creation. He needs an animal urge to mate with his partner. It is applicable for both. Then only we have creation. Every animal is distinct in its impulse for sexual urge and its type of action. The planets placed on these stars will reveal the type of urge when they get percolated. So the concept here is acceptance or compatibility of the urge between the two.

Aswini and Sathayam are Horses. In fact Sathyam has an urge of that is equivalent to 1000 horses. They are fast in their primal urge. Naturally they are inimical to Hastham and Swathi who are baffalos. These two are very slow. The primal urge will be slow.

Punarpusam and Ayilyam are Cats. They are neat animals and their urge will be clean. They are inimical to Rat which is a thief and is not neat. Makam and Pooram are rats. We all know that rats and cats are inimical.

Moolam and Thiruvathirai are dogs. They are laborious. They can not match with an animal that has a cosy urge - that is Rabbit. Anusham and Kettai are Rabbits. We know that dogs will chase rabbits.

Pooradam and Thiruvonam are monkeys. They are inimical to Krithikai and Poosam which are Sheep.

Chitra and Visakam are tigers. They are inimical to Uthiram and Uthirattathi which are Cows.  Tiger will eat away cows.

Avittam and Pooratthai are Lion and are inimical to Barani and Revathi which are elephant. Elephant is afraid of Lion and is not comfortable with it.

Rohini and Mrigaseera are snakes and are inimical to Uthiradam and Abijith which are mangoos.

So one can understand that it is not wild animals x mild or domestic animals. It is the type of urge or impulse towards mating.

An interesting analysis. Find out who is AK [Atmakarakan]and DK [Darakarakan]in a horoscope and in which stars they are posited. During the Prathyanthar Dasa of these planets the type of urge will be revealed.

Gayatri Mantra - The known but unknown

Hello Friends and Readers,
Here is one of the most revered mantra which almost every one of you know about. This detailed article was sent to me by one of my dearest friends and teacher (Guru) Sri Narayanji with whom I worked for almost 25 years. It is he who started my pilgrimage to Sabari Mala. He wished that this message also should appear in the blog.  I am sure you will find this useful since there are some unknown facts that are brought to light.

Thank You Narayanji.

Note: Please bear with me. I could not paste the photoes here.

Gayatri Mantra
There is a famous prayer in Sanskrit that first appears in the Rig Veda (iii /62/10) called the Gayatri Mantra that almost every Hindu knows. In roman letters it is as follows:
Om bhur bhuvah svah
tat-savitur varenyam
bhargo devasya dhimahi
dhiyo yo nah pracodayat

Gayatri in Devanagari letters

Literally hundreds of books and thousands of web pages are currently dedicated to explaining the esoteric meaning of this mantra, so I will not repeat that discussion. Instead I will provide a basic grammatical explanation of this most famous mantra and if you are new to Hinduism and want to know at least one prayer, this is the prayer you should learn.
Gayatri is actually the name for a Sanskrit poetical meter that contains three lines of eight syllables each. There are, therefore, many gayatri mantras, but this particular one is the oldest and most well known of all gayatri mantras. In Hinduism all Gods and Goddesses have a gayatri mantra associated with them. There is a gayatri for Ganesha, one for Shiva, one for Durga, one for Vishnu, one for Lakshmi, and so on. Most people are unaware of this fact and when Hindus talk about the gayatri mantra they mean thee gayatri mantra shown above, which is addressed to Savitri, the sun. The first line: om bhur bhuvah svah that you see above is not actually part of a gayatri mantra. It is a special utterance called vyahriti that has been added to the beginning of this famous gayatri . This vyahriti is important in and of itself and we will discuss it after we have explained the basic gayatri mantra. The three lines of this gayatri mantra are:
1. tat-savitur varenyam.
2. bhargo devasya dhimahi, and
3. dhiyo yo nah pracodayat
Here is a word-for-word breakdown of the gayatri mantra that most Hindus know.
tat–that (God)
savitur–of the sun
varenyam–the best
bhargo (bhargas)–light, illumination
devasya–divine
dhimahi–let us meditate (a verb)
dhiyo (dhiyah)–thought(s)
yo (yah)–which
nah–of us, our
pracodayat–May it push, inspire (a verb)

Savitri: the Sunrise

The deity associated with this gayatri mantra, as we mentioned, is the Sun,Savitri. (The second word of this mantra.) The more common name for the sun is Surya. Generally "Surya" is the name for the Sun while it is above the horizon and Savitri is the sun as it is rising and setting, just below the horizon. There is a great metaphor in Hinduism that when understood explains a lot about the Hindu way of seeing the universe. The metaphor is: “the Sun equals light, which equals knowledge, which equals consciousness.” This metaphor applies not only to the Gayatri Mantra, but also to the design of temples and homes, and to details such as why we circumambulate from left to right and offer incense and lamps in a clockwise direction.
The most important word in the Gayatri mantra is the word, “tat,” which is a neuter pronoun meaning “that.” It is a reference to “that One," God. According to the metaphor mentioned above, the sun, which is the source of illumination, heat, food and so many other things in our life, can naturally be seen as the “representative” or symbol of God in this world. There are two verbs in the gayatri mantra, dhimahi and prachodayat. Dhimahi means, “let us meditate.“ So, “let us meditate on the light (bhargo) of the sun which represents God.” This is the basic meaning of the first part of the Gayatri Mantra.
The second part is also straight forward. The verb prachodayat literally means, “it should push,” but in more poetic language we can translate it as “let it inspire.” Dhiyah is “thoughts,” so dhiyo yo nah prachodayat means, “may our thoughts be inspired” So the most literal meaning of the gayatri mantra is, “Let us meditate on the light of the sun which represents God, and may our thoughts be inspired by that divine light.”

Gayatri Devi

As with most things Hindu, the Gayatri Mantra is also personified as the Goddess, Gayatri Devi. She is the wife of Brahma and is pictured with five heads sitting on a lotus. She is the embodiment of the supreme brahman. You will also see other depictions of Gayatri Devi that vary somewhat.
The gayatri mantra is traditionally whispered into the ear of a young boy in a ceremony called The Thread Giving Ceremony (upanayana), which is one of the rites of passage followed by many Hindus. In addition, the Gayatri mantra is repeated during daily prayers performed by many Hindus three times a day, while facing the sun: at sunrise, at noon and at sun set. It is also common to recite the gayatri as part of a havan, or to recite it in a collective way in temples or homes.

The Great Utterance
The first part of the Gayatri mantra, om bhur bhuvah svah, which we mentioned at the beginning as not part of the mantra, is called vyahriti or the “great utterance.” This mantra is repeated not only in conjunction with the Gayatri mantra, but also separately during havans of fire ceremonies. The word om is a auspicious sound made at the beginning of many prayers. The expression bhur bhuvah and svah is technical, but a simple way to think of it is as a “call to creation,” that the light of the sun (the light of God) shines on the earth (bhur), in the sky (bhuvah), and in space (svah), and therefore the implication is, “let that light also shine on me.”
The technical explanation vyahriti has to do with subtle practices of meditational yoga. This earth is simply one of many planes of existence. In fact, above this earth are six higher planes, heavens as it were. Including this earth, there are seven planes up (heavens) and seven planes down, or hells below this earth. The earth is in the middle. If you have ever heard the expression, “he is in seventh heaven” you should understand that this is a reference to the Hindu idea of heavens. The seventh heaven is the highest heaven. The first three of these planes starting with the earth are called bhur, bhuvah and svah. The utterance bhur bhuvah svah, therefore, refers to the first three subtle planes of existence that may be reached in meditation by a yogi.

Transit of Saturn to Thula - A different approach based on Dual Transit

Everyone knows that Saturn has transited from Kanya to Thula recently. Normally the transit results are seen keeping the rasi where moon is posited as reference and results are advised by astrologers. I would like to see it in a different style. The present transit is unique in nature, if you look at it through a different telescope. The Saturn has reached its exaltation rasi. So it should be very happy. A happy planet should bless people than punishing them. For next few months it is influenced by the aspect of Jupiter. So we will look at it differently.

Normally the effect of the transit of Jupiter and Saturn is viewed seriously since they are slow moving planets and stay in a house for a longer period.

When Saturn moves to a particular rasi, it aspects the rasi to which it has moved, the 3rd, 7th and 10th houses from that location. One may question, how a planet can aspect its location? I would only reply that one should apply a basic logic. Will you not be looking your house when you are there?

When Jupiter transit to a house, it aspects the house to which it is moved, 5th, 7th and 9th houses from that location.

Now let us look for the effects of this double transit by Jupiter and Saturn. If you look at the houses for next few months, both Jupiter and Saturn will be aspecting three houses together at the same time. They are Thula, Dhanur and Mesha.  How this is possible?

Jupiter is at Mesha. So it aspects Mesha(1st), Simha(5th), Thula(7th) and Dhanur(9th).
Saturn is at Thula. So it aspects Thula(1st), Dhanur(3rd),Mesha(7th) and Kataka(10th).

If you look at this scene, you will understand both Saturn and Jupiter are aspecting three houses – Mesha, Thula and Dhanur. This is what I mean as Double Transit.

For all the twelve lagnas, this double transit effects influence three houses or three bavas during the stay of Saturn in Thula and Jupiter in Mesha. Please note that I am going to see the effects of this double transit on the brain mapping of individuals born in various lagnas.

While predicting the results, I confirm that one should look at the present dasa period of the individual, the strength of both Jupiter and Saturn, their auspicious or inauspicious nature for the native on the natal chart of the individual.

Here I am not taking these factors into consideration, but just try to kindle the interest of Astrology lovers to dwell into it in a different angle by just looking at this double transit effect alone on the brain mapping of the individual. Why Not?

The general trait of Jupiter is knowledge seeking, knowledge sharing, expansion, happiness etc., and that of Saturn is hard work, going deep into the knowledge secured, manifestation of thoughts into action by hard efforts etc.,

So as far as the brain is concerned, it will get influenced by Jupiter on seeking fresh thoughts, knowledge and expansion of the present situation and will get influenced by Saturn in making the thoughts into reality by taking efforts. In short the brain will be expansive, seeking and at the same time trying hard to actualising the thoughts. - In short both thoughts and actions.

I have given a list of Lagna rasis and the bavas(houses) that will get influenced by double transit of Saturn and Jupiter. Please note that it is not Janma rasi where Moon is posited but Janma Lagnam.

Lagna
Houses of Double Transit effect
Mesha
1,7,9
Vrishapa
6,8,12

2,6,12
Dhanur
1,5,11
Makara
4,10,12
Kumba
3,9,11
Meena
2,8,10

Note: This can be seen for Janma rasis also. The influence will be on the mind (mana) mapping and not on brain mapping.

I will give below the indications of the houses that get aspected.

House
Indications
1st
Natural Intelligence, identity, self confidence
2nd
Earned Income, Food, Speech
3rd
Communication, writing, siblings, short journeys
4th

Example: For Makara lagna persons, their mind will get focused to the following aspects of life:

Home, mother, vehicles, happiness, Career, employer- employee relationships, work related actions, achievements, Long Distance travel, introspection, debts and expenditures, isolation.
This means that the area of concentration will be home, happiness, vehicle, career related issues, long distance travel and expenses.

These people may plan to take the family to a foreign country on vacation spending money to celebrate a promotion they got in their office.

Another example: Dhanur lagna People:

Their mind will get focused on the following areas:

Natural Intelligence, identity, self confidence, Creativity, children, opportunities, Mantram, monetary gains, long term goals, friends, extra incomes
These people will be getting opportunities where their natural ability gets shined gaining attention of people, they will do some activity in a creative manner, will learn some mantras, will do something to make their children happy, will gain some monetary gains and extra incomes and will expand their friends circle to a bigger radius.

Well, friends, I have given my thoughts on this. I would like you to contemplate on this and come out with your comments based on your observations and findings.

This double transit situation will be there only during this year and not during next year when Jupiter moves to Vrishapa. There is no double transit.

I would caution all those who are born in the following lagnas to exercise more control on their behavior since 7th house is involved. It signifies relationship with spouse. Play safe.

They are Mesha, Mithuna and Thula

Advice:

Mesha: Your ruler is Mars. 7th house is that of Venus. Be careful on your words and actions.

Mithuna: Your ruler is Bhudhan. 7th house is that of Jupiter – a natural enemy. Do not attempt jokes on your wife.

Thula: Your ruler is Venus, 7th is that of Mars. You will enjoy it.

Pitru Pooja - some thoughts to contemplate

All are born to die. But we surely do not know where we go after death. The jeevan gets a bandhana with a body when it is born and leaves the body in right time releasing itself from the bandhana. Is it freed completely? A million dollar question to answer.

Our Hindu faith says that we all go to Pitru Loka after our death. When we are in Pitru Loka someone should feed us. Who else other than our own son to support us in getting our food? The hindu faith calls this as Pitru Pooja or Shrardham.

Since this has to be done with utmost care – shradha we call it as shrardham. If we do it with care, Pitrus – ancestors will be happy and bless us. This blessing directly goes to our children. If we deny them the food, they feel sad that their son is not having time or money to spare to help them with food. This sad feeling will certainly hurt the son and his children. So our Dharma advises everyone to feed the departed soul with food.

Well, how this can be done? It is clearly explained in the old scriptures and is being followed generations after generation by our ancestors.

Now let us see how this can be done. One year for us is considered as one day for them. So every year when the solar month and thithi comes on which day our parents died, we should perform this shrardham.

(Note: Birthday is celebrated when the birth star repeats every year in the concerned solar month. Birth star is associated with Longevity. Hence Birthday must be celebrated on the day when the star appears every year on the solar month of birth. Thithi represents relationship. Hence shrardham should be performed on the Thithi day every year)

All persons who are capable of performing this ceremony should do it without fail. This has got some rituals and steps to be followed. This involves a homam, Pinda Dhanam and feeding brahmanas and offering them money, dress etc. This detailed shrardham is called “Parvana Shrardham”.

For people who have some inconvenience to perform a full shrardham due to ill health etc., another method is suggested. This is called “Sankalpa Shrardham”. This involves only feeding the bramhanas and donating them with money, dresses etc.

In case even if this is not possible, one can do “Aama Shrardham”. This involves in giving all materials for cooking to the bramhanas with Dakshinai.

Even if this is not possible one can give money alone that is equivalent to four times the actual expense if one does it at home with all rituals along with banana and rice which is called “Hiranya Shrardham”.

For poor people who cannot afford anything said above, they can do it with black gingili seed and water.

Now let us see how this food offered goes to Pitrus and others.

When you do homams, all Indrathi devas become happy.

If you feed the bramhanas who have learnt Vedas, all people in Swarga Loka become happy.

When we perform Pindapradhanam (at the end of shrardham we keep a pindam chanting certain mantras), all people at Yama Loka become happy.

When we spread the food in front of brahmanas who eat the food chanting certain  mantras it is called vikiram and on performing this all people who live in hell become happy.

The leftover food by the bramhanas makes atmas living in paisasa world happy.

If we feed many people with food on that thithi day all asuras become happy.

By gifting money the people in buloka get happiness.

This is what our Dharma sastras say.

All those who read this are requested to perform this ceremony without fail and make all happy. When everyone become happy they bless the person who performs it. The blessings will help our children’s health and growth.
