Neecha Vargothamam

The science of Astrology is full with a number of complex issues and hence it is not easy to understand certain words clearly. One should understand in what sense the word is identified by the sages. We always linkany qualified statement of words with the strength of the planets. We seldom look at the words in a different mode. It is because the various authors who wrote books after books also thought in one way only and their influence is very much on us. We simply get carried away by their statements.
I am trying to give my thoughts on certain words spelled in Astrology. This time I have taken up the word Vargothamam.
What is Vargothamam?
When a planet occupies the same rasi in two divisions it is called Vargothamam. This is more important when it occupies the same rasi in both Rasi Chart and Navamsa Chart. Vargam means division. Uthamam means the best.
Then one should ask a question, is there a madhyamam and adhamam?
My view is when there is uthamam then there should be both madhyamam and adhamam, because uthamam is a comparative word. One can define the status as uthamam when he wants to say that it is the best.
How to qualify this? We say that when a planet occupies the same rasi in two divisions, especially in Rasi Chart and Navamasa Chart we call it as the best division. Let’s see which planets can get this status at what locations.
Let’s see where the planets can attain Ucha Vargothama and Neecha Vargothama

Out of these Vargothamams created by Punarpoosa, Chitra, Uthiradam – all the six are very strong and give telling results.
Vargothama planets bestow the following results according to the ancient authors:
1.    The Sun: Philosophical attitude, firmness of mind, sound health, self satisfaction, popularity, fame, good status in life, interest in spiritual learning.
2.    The Moon: Impartial attitude, firmness, good memory, intellect and getting desired things.
3.    The Mars: Encouragement, justifying actions towards rise and fall in life, desire to learn astrology.
4.    The Mercury: Capacity to convince others, charity in talk, interest in astrology, impressive talking, sharp intellect.
5.    The Jupiter: Well developed physique, intelligence, seeking truth, capacity to understand others.
6.    The Venus: Knowledge of astrology, Capacity to analyse looking into pros and cons of a problem, physical attraction.
7.    The Saturn: Longevity, Careful attitude, Good Control on desires, Selfishness, exercising restraints, carelessness, disturbances in effectiveness of achievements.
How do we differentiate between Rasi Chart and Navamsa Chart?
·         Navamsa Chart gives gives a clue about exact position of a planet to a greater accuracy.
·         Navamsa Chart is called Meru Danda. This means it is the back bone of the Deha – Rasi Chart.
·         Rasi Chart represents opportunities (tree) and Navamsa Chart represent the fruits of it.
·         Rasi chart is the photo picture of the native. But Navamsa Chart is its X-ray.
·         Navamsa Chart is the Anthar dasa where as the Rasi Chart is Dasa.
·         Navamsa Chart is Sookshma vibhaga where as the rasi Chart is Sthoola Vibhaga.
With the understanding of above we can come to some conclusion about the Navamsa results when the planet attains the Neecha vargothama there.
When a planet is in vargothama it can be termed to be happy. When a planet is happy, will there be a mismatch between the actions and their results?
Can we agree with the above? The term happy represents a mood. But Vargothama is termed as the best division of the Rasi sign and this may not represent the best circumstances in which the planet is.
So when the planet attains a Ucha navamsa it will give results because of the above status. But when a planet attains a Neecha vargothama it can only carry all the evil results.
Both these type of results depend on the house of placement from lagna and Arudha lagna. This ucha or neecha status affects the planets positives or negatively, the native may achive some good fame and name due to this. The basis for this is the placement of planet in Rasi to that in the navamsa Chart will determine which house gets affected.
For example if Mars is in Makara in Rasi and Mesha in Navamsa. Mesha is fourth from Makara  and it will bring the results of the fourth house on the native, fortune through home, lands, mother etc.,
Similarly in case of Vargothama the planet is in first house from its placement and hence contributes to the name and fame of the native.
I would like to get some more views of others on this type of analysing the effects of Neecha vargothamam so that we can pool everything and do some fine tuning.
